This is the BIG one. Five Stans in four weeks.

More than 2,000 years ago, the great trade routes that linked Europe and China opened Central Asia to foreign cultures, customs and religions. Join a modern-day caravan on an epic journey to five exotic countries.

  • Explore leafy Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan that is set against a backdrop of snow-clad mountains.
  • Glimpse the realities of life of Kyrgyz nomads as we watch a yurt being pitched.
  • Thrill to the spectacle of Kyrgyz horsemen taking part in their traditional ‘horse games’ and watch a demonstration of hunting using golden eagles.
  • Stroll through verdant Almaty, Kazakhstan’s cosmopolitan capital and pinch yourself that this is Central Asia and not Europe!
  • Observe traditional Kazakh falconry at a falcon farm outside of Almaty.
  • Drive to the spectacular 50-mile Charyn Canyon, a place of strange rock formations and colourful strata.
  • Explore a little of what is probably Central Asia’s least visited country: mountainous, remote Tajikistan.
  • Spend time in Tajikistan’s leafy and very pleasant capital Dushanbe.
  • Walk in the high, clear air (we’ll be over 7000 feet!) beside stunning Lake Iskanderkul set in the Fan Mountains.
  • Experience a taste of the former Soviet Union as we explore Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent with its collection of unique Soviet architecture and sculptures.
  • Visit the world famous Registan Square in Samarkand with its trio of superb Islamic architecture.
  • Be entertained by one of Uzbekistan’s most innovative fashion designers.
  • Uncover the history of Central Asia’s most ancient living city – magic Bukhara – during a guided walking tour.
  • Travel by train to one of the best preserved cities along the Ancient Silk Route – Khiva.
  • Prepare to be gobsmacked by possibly the world’s most surreal capital city – Turkmenistan’s Ashgabat – the Las Vegas of the Central Asian steppes!
  • Watch one of the world’s oldest domesticated breed of horse, the beautiful Akhal-Teke, in action.

Mandy is wonder woman. So patient, so caring, so capable. Always went the extra mile and had a stock of 'plans B' for all events.

Mandy exceeded my expectations. She worked extremely hard, cared for all her sick clients, changed money for us which was a real plus, did great interviews with the guides, had some sort of system which meant we were given room keys almost immediately on arriving in a new place; the best Tour leader I have ever experienced..

Yes she was excellent as usual. Kind, Caring, and thoughtful. Also very well organized.

Don't know how she manages to keep going, she puts so much into role. Everything was clearly and concisely explained so I was never in any doubt as to what was happening.
