Day 1: Auckland to Singapore – Tue 3 October, 2023

And they’re off! South Africa here we come..

Day 2: Singapore – J’burg – Pretoria (Train departs this evening) – Wed 4 October, 2023

And so our African Trilogy Adventure begins… first with a beautiful sunrise to welcome us to Africa.

Then to Rovos Rail’s own private railway station complete with working steam train for our arrival. A look around their train enthusiasts museum & a fascinating tour of the train re-building & maintenance area by none other then Rohan Vos the founder of this magnificently restored colonial luxury train company – Fascinating!

Such a delightful way to travel through Africa!

Day 3: Train: Pretoria to Kruger – Thu 5 October, 2023

Within 10mins of arriving at Kruger National Park we saw the most big handsome Leopard snoozing up a tree!… epic!

Brilliant day seeing all the big 5 & so much more!

Day 4: Train: Kruger National Park – Fri 6 October, 2023

Love Love being on safari in Africa!!

Day 5: Train: Eswatini- Sat 7 October, 2023

Another amazing day in Africa on the beautiful Shongololo train

Day 6: Train: Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park – Sun 8 October, 2023

A beautiful morning on safari in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park…. Elephants on the move – fast yet silent. Rhinos a plenty & Lions taking the easy ‘road’ all before a hilltop coffee with spectacular views!

Day 7: Train: Durban – Mon 9 October, 2023

A day in Durban starting with a wander through the oldest surviving Botanical Gardens in Africa… including the loneliest tree & the most beautiful flower in the world! Along with a dip of the toes in the beautiful Indian Ocean.

Orange river cruising & the view from my window. Woke up to find 1000’s of wilderbeast just grazing & wandering as we passed by in the train. Ostrich, Zebra, Impala & Warthog… & yet another amazing African Sunrise…. & a very friendly Gemsbok

Day 11: Train: Fish River Canyon & Garas Park – Fri 13 October, 2023

Fish river Canyon – The largest canyon in the southern hemisphere.

Quiver Trees – Namibia…. Named after the quiver made by the ancient Sun people to carry their darts/arrows. Amazing ancient trees!

Day 12: Sossusvlei – Sat 14 October, 2023

Sossusvlei Desert Dinner… unforgettable!

Day 13: Sossusvlei & Windhoek – Sun 15 October, 2023

Epic red sand dunes with breakfast in the desert… a truly magical experience!

Day 14: Train: Cheetah Conservation Project- Mon 16 October, 2023

Cheetah Rehabilitation centre… such beautiful creatures

Day 15: Etosha National Park – Tue 17 October, 2023

Our last evening game drive

Etosha salt pan – Etosha National park, Namibia… beautiful mixed herds of game – zebra, giraffes, blue wildebeest, rhino with the odd lion to keep everyone on their toes! All across the Etosha salt pan.
